The Red Tour

Taylor Swift began her third world tour "The Red Tour" to support her forth album "RED",
It started on March 13 2013 in Omaha Nebraska, and ended on June 12 2014 in Singapore.
This tour have 7 shows in Asia, 6 shows in Europe ,66 shows in North America
7 shows in Oceania, and 86 shows in total.
All the tickets sold out in seconds, and created total revenue $139,212,061 USD.
But there was  one thing that made me frustrated, that is , there was no Red tour in Taiwan.
Taylor said she decided her concert location depended on album sales, and the number of fans,
which put Swifties (Her fans nickname) in Taiwan inferior position since Taylor wasn't as popular
as Lady Gaga or Rihanna in Taiwan.
We Swifties actually made some effort for inviting Taylor to held the concert in Taiwan.
For example, we set up a fan page to let Taylor Swift noticed us and we also twit on her
twitter and send her postcards, but all we did was in vain.
Although Taiwan wasn't big, we still have some famous singers held concert in here
like Avril Lavigne came to Taiwan four times and Bruno Mars came to Taiwan this April.

To sum up, Taylor has announced that her fifth album will release in this October,
all we can do is to hope she might held her concert in Taiwan for her next album.

Maleficent

I went to see Maleficent this Tuesday, which i was highly interested in.
I've heard that Jolie's performance was excellent, and I always like fairy tales.
Maleficent was far different from Sleeping Beauty, the original version we were familiar with.
Maleficent was a fairy who betrayed by a boy whom she be friend with since she was little,
the boy named Phillip betrayed her for getting a chance to be a king.
He took Maleficent's wings away, which absolutely broke Maleficent heart.
Maleficent's heartbroken became the power of her revenge,
she cursed Phillip's daughter, princess Aurora would die at her sixteenth birthday
unless Aurora could get a true love kiss which Maleficent believed that
there was not true love kiss in this world.

It was the same with original version, but what made me really surprise was that
Maleficent became godmother of , she has given the daughter love and care for sixteen years.
So, when it came to the true love kiss, Maleficent made a prince kiss Aurora but she didn't wake.
However, it was Maleficent who kissed Aurora because of regrets and love that woke Aurora up.

To sum up, this version was really different from the original one but it was amazing,
and Jolie made this movie better due to her wonderful performance.

Nashville

I always like country music, so when I found out there's a show about country music,
I decided to watch immediately. It's called "Nashville"
It's clearly to know by its name, Nashville is the home of country music!

This show was about celebrities, both old and young famous country music singers,
and some political issues, and most important.
Well, of course, this show has a lot of country music included.

I thought the plots wasn't as good as the music was, all those music was wrote by their produce team,
and it was what it attracted me, because the quality of music was so high !
and the actors were good at both singing and acting which I thought was difficult
but I couldn't deny there were people with talent and gift.

This show is the first show that began its own tour,
and it was because of all those great music, and their actors who sing well.

I was so excited to introduce this show to my friends, however,
they didn't like this kind of show or country music at all,
which I thought that would be definitely their losses.

  Here I introduce my favorite song of this show Nashville, Black Roses, sang by Clare Bowen.
  It's really beautiful song that you must listen to and you won't be regret!!!

Rebroadcast of School Anniversary

This year is eight-sixth anniversary of NCCU, and I played an important part of this
rebroadcast, this was really exhausted and tried.
We started to prepare from this rebroadcast this March and it was a long marathon,
during our preparation, what I have learned was that always treat others with respect.
My job is to help the producer of rebroadcast to keep track of other group leaders,
monitoring them finished their works on time.
But I wasn't happy for some group leaders always show their bad attitude to me,
and I thought why couldn't we treat others with more patient and respect?
If someone had reason to get angry that must be me for I had so many works,
and some leaders didn't finish their works on time, shouldn't I be very angry to them?
I didn't see any necessary to be rude to others and I did my best to help others to
finish their jobs quickly, I personally thought help each other were great thing in the world.

Rebroadcast for five days finally finished in this Tuesday and I got sick right after it,
I thought I have sacrificed a lot and also learned how to control my EQ,
and most importantly- always treat others with kindness, patient, and respect.

I always like what Taylor sings in her song "mean"

she asks, why you gotta be so mean?

Yes, why everyone gotta be so mean? Can't we show more kindness to each other?

Orphan Black

Orphan Black is absolutely the greatest episode I've ever watched!
It's addicting, I couldn't stop myself from watching this show!
It is produced by BBC American and season two is on show now.
The story started with Sarah saw a woman jump off the platform for killing herself
and Sarah took the woman's bag to steal her money.
However, Sarah found out the woman looked just like her,
so Sarah decided to impersonate the woman and steal her money for her bank account.
Things went wrong when Sarah found out Beth(the woman) was a cop
and Beth was involved in an accident, she was also suspended for killing a innocent woman.
Therefore, Sarah found out she couldn't just take Beth's money away and run
because she realized that there are at least ten clones and they're genetically identical.
Sarah and other clones decided to find out why they were made for,
but there is a killer killing those clones, so they also had to protect themselves for being killed.

During her searching for the truth, Sarah realized that she couldn't trust anyone,
and she had a daughter named Kira was in danger since all of clones couldn't
give a birth of a child, and Dyad Genetic Company which produced Sarah and
other clones really wanted to know what's inside Kira because she was definitely
not a normal little girl.

This show is really great and you can see Tatiana Maslany's amazing performances,
she played at least five roles in Orphan Black!

Adventure in Taipei MRT

I need to work a project with my classmates because it will be valued by
teacher as our final grade of this semester.
However, this is the first time that I think we can have fun in the semester project.
Teacher really gave us  freedom to do whatever we want.
After discussing, we decided to have an adventure in Taipei MRT by playing monopoly
but with some changes of rules.
We don't have to throw the dice to decide how many steps we can walk,
we need to ask some interesting problems to decide instead.
For example, we can ask any stranger,"how many sibling do you have?"
and we get the answer like "three" so we have to go to the third MRT station from
where we were then pick up a thing to finished in that station and move on.
It will be really interesting because there are so many thing that we can't expect
and everything might happen for we don't know what answers strangers will give.
Although we haven't discussed details for this project and we merely decide we
will pick up a day to finish this, I think things won't go wrong.
I am so glad I chose this class to study and I had a lot of new experience in this class
like how to create a puppet animation from make a puppet to create a little film,
I have friends who didn't listen to my advice to take this class and I think they will be sorry
for this.
To sum up, hope we will have a lot of fun in our adventure in Taipei MRT.

Booking Ticket

I am going to Australia and NZ this summer vacation for being invited
by one of my father's friend  who immigrated to NZ twenty years ago.
I also invited my roommate Judy to go with me and we plan to take eight-day
trip in Australia before we go to NZ.
It was so exciting in the first place, BUT THE PROBLEM IS!!!!
booking the cheapest ticket is quiet a mess !
because our flights are complicated and I spent many hours to deal with it.
This was the very first time that I book ticket by myself and I was planned to
learn how to do this through this whole experience.
Unfortunately, Judy's father blamed me for booking ticket by myself without
taking his advice and I felt I was so unfair because how could he blame me
for the thing I did right and most important was that I didn't know he
searched the ticket for us!
However, I did want to know who will thank me for booking the ticket.

Judy's father doesn't talk to Judy anymore for this whole ticket thing
and now we have to deal with visa and I don't know if I can decide it
by myself or I should ask Judy's father first who doesn't want to talk to his own daughter anymore.

I hope everything will be fine in the end and we can have an unforgettable vacation
in such beautiful countries.

It's so gorgeous that I think I am so lucky to visit this place!

The Other Woman

I went to see the other woman this Tuesday,
because the trailer was so interesting that I decided I would buy a ticket for it.

The story was about a woman named Carly who found out her boyfriend
had a wife.
Unexpectedly, his wife didn't fight with Carly but become a friend, instead.
Then, they found out there was another woman whom "the man" dated with.
So they came to the second mistress and decided to set up an ally.
Finally, they started to set the man up together and the man got what he deserved.

Although this was a comedy, it still described the wife's feeling carefully.
Like how she couldn't accept all of it in the first place but turn her angry
into her power to move on.

I think this movie encouraged women not to blame themselves for
their husbands' mistakes. Every woman who is betrayed by her husband
should deserve better.

Trailer

Glee

I've been watching glee since I was in high school,

so it can kindly say that it grew up with me.

This year is season five and it clearly met a chock point,

unlike other episodes that talking about high school life,

the producer chose the nature way-- students will graduate .

But this might be wrong choice because the TV rating was downing,

they tried to add more scenes about the old characters but I didn't 

think that they found the perfect balance.

I am really sorry that this episodes has became like this,

and I can feel that maybe season five would be last season.

On the other hand,

I like "Drop Dead Diva" very much, and season six came out this month.

It's very funny and interesting and 

when Jane finally told Grayson that she was Deb!!!!

I literally cried in front of the computer,

It has been six years and she finally told him!

I believed that many people have seen this and I hope 

it will sustain its quality.

This week

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last month,
and she had a surgery last weekend.
The result of surgery was great, doctor did his best to remain
my mother's breast shape.
The nurse there were kind, and I stayed in the hospital for five days
to take care my mother.
It's lucky that we found the cancer in early phase, and it can be
control by medicine and treatment.
The whole family were really care about my mother's condition,
and when I went to buy dinner, the vendor who I brought dinner from her
heard about my mother's condition, she was so kind that encouraged me and show
her consideration. And that made me feel gratified.
My mother went home yesterday, and I hope she will get better!

I've planned to go to Guam for six days and this is the first time
I go to abroad, I am so excited about it!
When I went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for my passport
I saw a lot of police men stood there and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
was surrounded roadblocks. However, I could hear students who
protest Cross-Strait Agreement on Trade in Services they were
saying something.
They were fighting for their life and future and I truly hope
government could see this!

New Cellphone

After this, I believed in the destiny.

My old Sony Neo V had kept company with me for thirty three months.
I knew it didn't work quiet well and I've planned change a new phone,
but I didn't have much budget and Neo V was very strong !
Why would I said that? Because my Neo V had fallen by many times
but it was still fine!
However,
My boyfriend told me that Xiaomi company would sell their
"red mi" which was famous for its low price for merely NT.four thousand
but with really high quality equipment
Every time red mi would sold out for few seconds and it's called "hungry marketing".
Indeed, this kind of sale made red mi even famous than other cellphones.
Now let's get down to brass tracks.
My boyfriend asked his friend to get one red mi for me as a surprise gift.
But when he told me that his friend failed because it was so competitive.
That was a relief for me because although red mi was good,
I did want a higher quality cellphone like SONY Z.
A few hours later, I got a call for my father,
he said, Hey darling, I brought you a new cellphone, a red mi.

I was speechless for few seconds and I knew red mi became my
newest cellphone was my destiny.

By the way,
red mi was really great!

Terrible work experience!

  This week was the very first week to start my new work.
And I have to say this was exhausted!
I worked till nine p.m.!!! and I was even the first person who took off!
Was that unbelievable?
And someone told me that working for 12 hours(9-21) is totally a piece of cake to them
If I became an agency executive, it usually need to work for more than 12 hours!
So I told to myself that I would never ever ever choose this job as my lifetime career!
Besides, I didn't get paid for how long I stayed in the company,
I got paid for how much time I worked, instead.
For example, I survey for some information or paper and it took me
one hour to finish. And I have to document on the TIMESHEET.
So I can earn one hour money.
I stayed in the company for 12 hours in my first day but I only
worked for 8 hours so I could only take 8*120/hour=960 dollars!
And the rest of four hours just like DISAPPEAR!
Working for 12 hours was not the most miserable thing on that day
when I stepped out the company it was raining and I didn't bring an
umbrella with me and I stood in this cold and rainy day, waiting for
the bus to get back to school for another THIRTY minutes!!!
All I want to say is that it wasn't easy to earn money!

Internship

I have planned to have a internship since I became a junior,
and it was because two reasons,
one is to accumulate experiences, the other is to save some money.
I don't accept a internship that offer no pay, because this is so unfair.
Students come to a company to learn things but they should be paid
because they actually do something for the company and they aren't
slaves.
I got a news about an available internship position of a medical public relations,
I send my resume to them and I got a chance to interview.
When I came to there, I was asked to take a test about some basic knowledge,
translate an article from Chinese to English, and so on.
It took me two whole hours to finish it, I don't exaggerate about it,
I thought that was too much to a intern.
But the one who interview me was a totally good person, she was nice to me
and the process of interview was like a little chat with her.
I was lucky to get this job and I was asked to go to the company for two whole day
for the rest of this semester.
I hope that I can learn something and save some money and most importantly,
to know if I am suitable to be a public relation.
It will be an adventure to me and I am little nervous now but excited
and I know a miserable thing that this job need to work some extra time
after five in the afternoon and it may be three or four hours, oh my god!
Hope I will survive in this semester!
I know how different between typing for fifteen minutes and writing for fifteen minutes now!

Endless Love

Lastly, I watched a romantic movie called "Endless Love",
I thought it was a classic romantic movie,
girl and boy are from different society stage,
girl was going to Brown University while boy didn't apply
one and chose to stay in his father's car factory.
Although the story of this movie was so familiar to other romantic movies,
I fell in love with it, the music was so beautiful, and the complex was intriguing.
They had to break up out of some stupid reasons, but it still made me cry for them.
The produce team of this movie made a famous movie that based on a true story,"The Vow" before,
and i thought that they knew exactly how to affect audiences' feeling to movie.
FIRST LOVE is always unforgettable, and just because it was so great,
so beautiful to most of us, people went to see this kind of movie to find
what they felt and lost in their first love.
It's like fairy tales which don't exist in the world, but their emotion are real.
I think that why this kind of movie don't need to use a lot of 3D effect or some action
and fight scenes to attract people, but still, it's a blockbuster, because they knew
audience want to experience the great part of their first love again by the movie.
You knew they would fall in love, break up, and get back together because they would
find out they couldn't live a day without each other.
The life was meaningless without each other.
They would fight for love, fight for what they need and what they want!

1.  Write a list of listening skills that you learned about from each of the units that we studied.  Find them on - page 9, page 35, page 58, page 82, page 107.

Identifying main ideas, making inferences, listening to examples, recognizing appositives that explain, and organizing notes with a T-chart.


2.  Which listening skill (mentioned above) did you find the most valuable?  Why?

Although I think that different listening skill is suitable for different 
kind of article,for instance, organizing notes with a T-chart is the best listening skill for the article that certain problems 
and answers are included.
The most valuable listening skill for me is identifying main ideas,
because it is suitable for all kind of article, it's the basic of other
listening skills.
3.  What are some ways in which your listening in English has improved this semester?

Probably realizing accent India because we spent a lot of time discussing
this tragic story, and I think that it was a new experience.

Besides,I think teacher introduced different listening skills to us and we have to practice till we are proficient in.  

4.  What are some challenges that you still face in your English listening?  How do you plan to overcome these challenges?

Once I was not focus on what I were listening for just few minutes,
I would miss the rest of the content. And it was so hard for me to 
catch up a story that I couldn't understand from the beginning of it.
The solution to these two problems is practice, practice, and practice,
and I am still working on it.

5.  Based on your experience with listening to many different types of activities in English this semester (listening to radio reports, radio interviews, TED talks, the audio book, a song, etc.), what is the most efficient way that you can train yourself to improve your English listening on your own?  Explain your answer.

I think it was TED's talk, because it was difficult for me to understand proper nouns 
and if it was repeated in the speech over and over again or there are more 
proper nouns used in the speech, it would make me refuse to 
listen to the rest of it. I overcame it and found out the speeches were good.
The variety of different topics make TED's talks interesting and 
those speeches are meaningful and I can learn something from it.
For example, I learned "Fake it and became it!" from the TED's talk
that I shared to class.
